The eruption of Mt. St. Helens in the 1980s was a primary motivator in attracting me to the West. My cameras have been in readiness the whole time I have lived here. The steam eruption in 2005 happened when I was working in Eastern Oregon, and left me jumping around and swearing in front of my TV. I am still hoping.... This painting is now historical, as the new dome growing in the caldera is now easily visible from this perspective.
